GET ON YOUR WAY
Your 1st step to your driving licence

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ?
Download a form from at www.direct.gov.uk/motoringforms and apply for your driving licence, this can be done up to 3 months before your 17th birthday, then keep on reading and decide what is best for you.
THEORY TEST
Some pupils prefer to do this before starting on the road, most like to take a few lessons first, once the interest is there, reading the highway code seems to make a lot more sense. DVD's for use in studying for the theory can be loaned from me, highway codes are for sale at a reduced price
SINGLE LESSONS
Lasting 1, 1.5 or 2 hours (don't normally recommend 2 hours, most people find it difficult to concentrate for that long). Every lessons is designed for each individual pupil. Following a "Safe Driving for Life" course, recommended by the DSA). A progress record is kept to allow both myself and the pupil to monitor their progress from start to finish.
BLOCK BOOKINGS /INTENSIVE COURSES
Can be taken over 1 week or 10 weeks (up to you) to be paid in either by cheque or bank transfer (please e.mail for bank details) before starting your lessons, or by cash on the day of your 1st lesson.
PASS PLUS
Pass Plus: recommended by the Driving Standards Agency to offer newly qualified drivers the chance to develop their skills every day motoring situations including:
Town & city centre driving: Observation, judgement and awareness. consideration for vunerable road users, spacial awareness and clearance to obstructions, dealing with urban roads.
All weather driving:Vision: see & be seen, skidding and avoidance, speed and stopping distances.
Night time driving: Vehicle lighting and use, speed & stopping distances, visablity seeing and reacting safely, parking.
Dual Carriageway:Joining/turning/leaving, forward planning and observation, overtaking safely.
Motorway: Joining and leaving, forward planning and observation, overtaking, brakedown and safety proceedures
MOTORWAY
If you decide the pass plus is not for you, then maybe consider a 2 hour motorway lesson. Even though dual carriageway is included in the lessons prior to taking your test, motorway is not. Dual carriageways are usually as they sound 2 lanes, motorways can be upto 4 or 5 lanes. Most new drivers take comfort in having a qualified driver sitting alongside them on their first few trips on the motorway, just knowing somebody is there to offer advise if needed.
